'The things that always hit hard are any time I say something negative or truthful about Drag Race.' I don't know if a plague is what caused people to go, 'Oh, let's go see this bitch before she dies.' So I think it's just people who are either really desperate, or they think I'm funny. Obviously, when you're going to Brazil, and there's a language barrier, that might be more what they want to hear.
It varies where you are, and in places like the UK, Australia and America, you've got to work harder, because they've heard everything you've said before. I often get asked, obviously, about the current seasons, which I don't watch, so I don't have an opinion. What positive shifts have you seen impact drag in recent years? Who can keep up with it? If anybody knows everything about all the seasons, they're f**king insane. I mean, for myself in particular – for me to be identified as what I am, which is a comedian in a wig, you know? We so long have celebrated people like Dame Edna, Flip Wilson, and all of these people that do drag. So to be a gay man that's in drag and accepted as a comedian, and to get to travel the world, for me has been insanely amazing and completely positive. 'I turned down The Crown, obviously, because Imelda needs some work.'Īnd no, I'm not taking over Drag Race, in case you were wondering.
